Martyrs of Memphis Weekend Sept 9-12
St. Mary's Cathedral invites the community to remember and honor Constance and Her Companions, the Martyrs of Memphis.  The following events are planned:
Thursday, Sept 9, free concert at St. Mary's at 7 pm.
Friday, Sept 10, icon workshop presented by the Rev. Br. Tobias S. Haller, BSG, at St. John's church at 7 pm.
Saturday, Sept 11, Eucharist in the Sisters' Chapel at St. Mary's Cathedral followed by a tour of Elmwood Cemetary and visit to the Martyrs' graves and lunch. (Reservations required, call the cathedral office at 901-527-3361 or email
memphiscarol@yahoo.com).  Evensong at All Saints at 6 pm.
Sunday, Sept 12, St Mary's will host Br. Tobias and the Sisters at 10 am Christian Formation, 11 am festive Choral Eucharist.

Diocesan ECW Meeting
All of the women of the Diocese are invited to the Fall Meeting of the Episcopal Church Women of West Tennessee on Wednesday, September 22 at the newly renovated Trezevant Manor. Registration will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a short business meeting in St. Edward’s Chapel. The Rev. Robin Hatzenbuehler will give a presentation on “Growing Spirituality Throughout Life Stages.” The group will enjoy a luncheon with musical entertainment in the new Performing Arts Center and tours of model homes, including a garden home and an apartment decorated by Rodgers Menzies. St. Clare Retreats for Women

Next St. Clare Half Day Retreat will be Friday, Oct. 1st from 8:30 to 12:30 at a special location.  Watch the TIP of the Lance for details.

All women are invited to attend the annual St. Clare Weekend Retreat on October 22-24, 2010 at St. Columba Conference Center.  This is an amazing time to open ourselves to the power and presence of the Holy Spirit as we are refreshed in every way.  Come and rest and be renewed.

Centering Prayer Retreat
A three-day Centering Prayer Retreat will be held September 26-28 at St. Mary's Sewanee, hosted by the Rev. Geoffrey Butcher and the Rev. Margaret Marshall. Contemplative Outreach is a network of individuals and small faith-based communities committed to living the contemplative dimension of the Gospel in everyday life through the practice of Centering Prayer. St. Mary’s Sewanee is a regional center for this practice with introductory workshops and retreats. Three-day retreats are for anyone interested in learning more about Centering Prayer or already practicing the prayer. A modified Introductory Workshop is included in this retreat. Cost is $275.
