FULL TIME YOUTH PASTOR POSITION
St. George’s Episcopal Church, www.stgchurch.com, a welcoming and energetic congregation located in Germantown, TN, is seeking a full time Youth Pastor to start as soon as possible after January 1, 2010.
The Youth Pastor will have the opportunity to transition the healthy core group that currently makes up our Episcopal Youth Community (EYC) into a steadily growing fellowship with more extensive programming, a full time presence, and increased integration of our Youth into expanding areas of family ministry and congregational life. The Youth Pastor mentoring role will span grades 5-12. A strong parent base, on which the Youth Pastor will build, provides support for activities and meeting venues.
Applicants must have experience in working with youth, particularly in the areas of spirituality, human relationships, outreach, education, and fellowship. The Youth Pastor will structure activities around these areas, all within the context of Episcopal Church teaching. Our youth thrive on a well-rounded program based in trust, warmth, safety, caring, fun, and meaningful conversation. Creative ventures through art, music, and drama receive high ratings with our youth; and their yearly mission trip provides an important context through which to understand aspects of daily life.
The Youth Pastor, who will report to the curate, will join the staff in coordinating and cooperating in congregation-wide activities and communications, as well as exchanging ideas in specific ministry areas. The Youth Pastor will also be part of a diocesan network of Youth Pastors, which will provide additional collegiality, fellowship, and support.
Applicants must have earned a minimum of a bachelor’s degree. Knowledge and skill concerning internet and computer applications are expected. Salary and benefits meet Episcopal Church policies on full time lay church workers.
Please send a cover letter and resume, including references, to the curate’s email address: cschroeder@stgeorgesgermantown.org Telephone inquiries for the Rev’d Ms. Clarisse Schroeder are most welcome through the church office at 901/754-7282.
